En effet, il s\u2019agit avant tout d\u2019une saga familiale d\u00e9but\u00e9e par Aleksander, le p\u00e8re de Georges Leskowicz. Architecte \u00e0 la r\u00e9putation de collectionneur passionn\u00e9, il rassembla en son temps l\u2019un des plus beaux ensembles d\u2019ouvrages rares et de manuscrits en langue polonaise. La collection de Lw\u00f3w fut dispers\u00e9e pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Puis Georges Leskowicz partit s\u2019installer en France avec son \u00e9pouse en 1973.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9volution du climat politique de la Pologne lui inspira un retour au pays natal en 1989. Il entreprit alors de reconstituer la collection paternelle. Cette recherche assidue le transforma malgr\u00e9 lui, en un collectionneur pointu, au go\u00fbt s\u00fbr et au jugement averti. Sous son impulsion, la collection se diversifia aux ouvrages rares autres que la Polonica. On peut citer de Nicolaus Copernicus, De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (Heinrich Petri Basel, 1556), et de Ptol\u00e9m\u00e9, Geography (Paolo et Fransceco Galignagni, Padua, 1621) parmi tant d\u2019autres.<\/p>\n<p>Au fil des ann\u00e9es, les th\u00e8mes se sont \u00e9largis aux costumes, encyclop\u00e9dies, herbiers et bestiaires avec des illustrations splendides. Des volumes sur l\u2019histoire et la culture du Japon se sont \u00e9galement ajout\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p><i>Po\u00e8mes de la libellule Saionji<\/i>, traduit par Judith Gautier, illustr\u00e9 par Yamamoto, (1885), et surtout <i>Histoire de l\u2019art du Japon<\/i>, <i>Commission imp\u00e9riale du Japon \u00e0 l\u2019exposition universelle de Paris<\/i> (1900), par le commissaire g\u00e9n\u00e9ral du Japon HAYASHI Tadasama (avec sa d\u00e9dicace). C\u2019est par ce biais qu\u2019il d\u00e9couvre et s\u2019enthousiasme pour la culture du Japon, et plus particuli\u00e8rement pour les estampes japonaises refl\u00e9tant la richesse de la p\u00e9riode Edo.<\/p>\n<p>Today, his collection of woodblock prints can compete with the best private collections in the world in terms of wealth and excellence. Among works of outstanding artists from this period, in addition to Hiroshige and Hokusai, there are also works by Utamaro and Sharaku. A complete series of A True Mirror of Chinese and Japanese Poetry by Hokusai and the first edition of a series of Sixty-Nine Stations Of The Kiso Kaid\u014d by Hiroshigo and Eisen are the jewels of this magnificent collection.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est pour partager la beaut\u00e9 et la richesse culturelle de ces \u0153uvres, que la Fondation Georges Leskowicz voit le jour en 2015.
